2006 IAA Elections
Eight IAA Cabinet seats up for election at June 24 Annual Meeting
Do you have strong feelings about IMSA or the IMSA Alumni Association?
Do you have ideas about how to make IMSA alumni events and activities better? Or new ideas about things the IAA could be doing?
Do you want to be more involved in the IMSA alumni community?
Then running for IAA office is perfect for you!
At the IAA Annual Meeting on Saturday, June 24, at 10 a.m., eight at-large members of the IAA Cabinet will be elected. Anyone who graduated from IMSA is eligible to run for the Cabinet – whether you’re from the Charter Class or the Class of 2006!
At-large Cabinet members are the work horses of the IAA, helping to coordinate and implement every facet of the organization. According to the IAA bylaws:
“At-large cabinet members provide direction for the IAA and participate in the organization of IAA efforts. They serve as a sounding board for ideas and as contact points for the alumni population. Cabinet members will be called upon to coordinate projects for the alumni association, particularly serving as liaisons between the IAA and IMSA departments/areas, including but not limited to Admissions, College and Academic Counseling, Computing and Networking Services, Student Leadership Development and the IMSA Fund.”
If you are interested in running for an at-large Cabinet position – or know someone else who would be a good candidate – nominations should be e-mailed to IAA Elections Chair Doug Pratt ’97 at milamber@imsa.edu. In order for a candidate’s name to appear on the ballot, a nomination must be received by Saturday, May 20. If you miss that deadline, write-in candidacies are allowed at the Annual Meeting.
Can’t be at the Annual Meeting but still want to cast your vote? No problem! Absentee ballots will be available beginning on Tuesday, May 23 – request one by e-mailing Doug at milamber@imsa.edu. All completed absentee ballots must be returned to Doug by Thursday, June 22.
