2004 Annual Meeting
IMSA Alumni Association (IAA) Meeting Minutes June 26, 2004 10:00 A.M. IMSA - Academic Pit
- The meeting was called to order ~10:20 AM.
- Ballots were distributed.
- Neal Groothuis moved to charter new clubs, Brian Cudiamat seconded new clubs were granted permanent status by voice vote.
- Doug Pratt raised the issue of granting honorary IAA memberships to LuAnn Smith, Connie Hatcher, Sue Eddins, and Jim Pearson, all charter staff, faculty, or board members who are retiring this year. Julia Sibley moved to grant honorary memberships, Jason Orloff seconded. The motion was amended to vote on Pearson separately, since he was a board member, not faculty or staff. All honorary memberships passed by voice vote.

Doug gave President's report:
- Neal Groothuis demonstrated new IAA site.
- Matt Zanon went over IMSA's site.
- Jim Gerry spoke about current technology issues at IMSA.
- Doug recognized reunion coordinators.
- Jason Orloff spoke about the future of Lumen. Next year's Lumen will be part of a new alumni weekend in the summer.
- In response to a suggestion by Mike Kimmitt, Jim Gerry stated that IMSA would be willing to consider accepting credit cards for donations.
- Jim Gerry spoke about the Navigation program and suggested that those who were interested in helping out contact him.
- Ande Croll spoke about her experiences working with the Board of Trustees. A major theme was alumni helping to speak out about IMSA.

Eric Stuckey announced the election results for at-large
representatives:
- Matt Zanon, '97
- Pooja Agarwal, '01
- Amanda Shanbaum, '96
- Paul Strasma, '94
- Adam Gibson, '96
- Charles Ballowe, '97
- Steven Benario, '04
- Eric Bowden, '02
- Anirudh Vallabhaneni, '99
- Cathy Veal spoke about the TALENT program, new directions for IMSA with alumni, and the possible creation of a Director of Alumni Relations.

General question and answer session.
Don Blaheta asked about finding voting records of
representatives as regards IMSA. Keith Winstein
asked about the results of the Longitudinal Study,
and was directed to the IMSA website. Mike Kimmitt
asked if IMSA recieved federal funding; the answer
was that there are a few such programs, such as 21st
Century Information Fluency. Eric Stuckey asked about
the possibility of getting discussion fora on IAA.org,
and Neal Groothuis mentioned that that capability would
be part of the next version (
v3
) of the website, managed by a content management system. - Meeting was adjourned.
