Present: Mindy, Neal, Kevin, Carolyn, Ande, Julie, Eva, Paul, Pooja
Excused: Kelly, Matthew
Unexcused: Brandon, Scott

Meeting was called to order at 8:06 P.M. Central time.

There were no items for action.

The first item for discussion was the NYC IMSA20 Alum Event. It is still planned for the first weekend of November. There is no venue yet or proposed budget. Given the short time frame, we may be looking at simply picking a restaurant and having a dinner with interested alumni and Dr. Marshall. Kevin will send an email to Sendhil letting him know that we need to have venue information by Tuesday morning.

Other proposed events include San Francisco, Chicago, and Boston. One idea that was floated was having the Chicago-area event during intersession week, since alumni will be in from all over. Likely date is 13 January 2007.

Comments on the text of the thank you letters should be in to Kevin by Wednesday 18 October. Neal will get site for submission of responses in place by 25 October, and we will approve it at the next meeting.

Cabinet responsibilities was the next item for discussion. Mindy has indicated that she does not have time to deal with the task of reunion coordination. Brandon has not been in contact with the IMSA Student Council or the Cabinet. Julie, Mindy, and Ande will be talking about keeping in touch with the Student Council. Ande also reminded everyone that if we feel that we cannot meet our intended responsibilities, that we should inform the Cabinet.

Julie gave an update on alumni admissions involvement. They are trying to get one or two alumni present at Admissions events, and to get as many as possible on campus for Preview days. Kids Institute participation would also be desirable; Carolyn will talk to Kristin to coordinate that.

Pooja is waiting to hear from Colleen Geihm regarding exact numbers for alumni-led intersessions.

Ande spoke briefly on reunions. We are looking for additional help with the 10-year reunion (since the coordinator is getting married about that time). Jessica Ward has volunteered to coordinate the five-year reunion.

Also, it was noted that if we want residence halls to be available for Lumen on Alumni Weekend, we need to reserve the time with Facilities soon, so that it will not overlap with building maintenance.

Alumni Weekend next year will be 23-24 June 2007.

The meeting was adjourned at 9:03 P.M. Central time.
