| Personal Statement: | I believe that one of the most important strengths I have to offer as a candidate is my positive relationship with members of the IMSA community. I have made significant efforts to maintain strong ties with alums, current students, faculty, and staff. Through formal and informal service, I have worked to encourage greater alumni participation in Intersession and student research. I meet frequently with administrators to lay the foundation for a new (and hopefully improved) leadership development program. Currently, I am planning Lumen 2007. All of this work rests ultimately on the ability to network effectively with our peers. I am particularly supportive of the Regional Clubs, especially after the success of the events planned over the past year. These clubs formalize something that many alums do already, and can serve as an excellent way to maintain communication. With graduates spread across the country, these clubs will be the most effective way of providing services to and from IMSA. They are also a starting point to demonstrate that the IAA is relevant. Due to my experiences as a Cabinet member, I believe that the Cabinet should work together to improve communication and to set benchmarks to ensure that goals are met at a reasonable pace. |
