IMSA Alumni Association Logo Contest - Call For Proposals

by Matthew Knisley last modified 2009-05-01 12:07 PM

The IMSA Alumni Association (IAA) would like to invite members of the alumni community (including current seniors) to submit proposals for a new logo that captures the spirit and goals of the IAA.

Official Purpose of the IAA

The official purpose of the IAA is to facilitate connections (social, professional or otherwise) and fellowship among all Illinois Mathematics and Science Academy alumni; to offer various types of support to current IMSA students to enrich their experience at the Academy; to promote a continuing and lifelong relationship between IMSA and its alumni; and to aid in advancing IMSA’s mission. We want to know what the IAA means to you and how you would represent it to others by designing a new logo for the organization.

Contest Details and Rewards

The new logo will be selected through an online voting system open to all members of the community. The winner will be announced at the annual IAA meeting held at IMSA on July 18, 2009.

The logo will be used on future IAA-branded materials, and the winning designer will receive a complimentary sample of each item produced bearing the logo. The designer will also receive recognition in the Fall/Winter issue of IMSA360, the magazine for alumni and friends of IMSA.

Submissions must be received by 5 p.m. CDT on Friday, May 29, 2009. Voting will begin on June 5 and continue through July 1.

Rules and Guidelines

* All submissions must be submitted electronically and received by 5 p.m. CDT on Friday, May 29, 2009. Submit through email at vice-president@imsaalumni.org. If you prefer, you may mail a CD to IMSA at IAA Logo Contest, c/o Carolyn Johnson, 1500 West Sullivan Road, Aurora, IL 60506.

* Submissions must be accompanied by contact information. Please include your name, class year, and preferred method of communication.

* Initial submissions can be in the format of your choosing, but should be of sufficient quality that they can be displayed as a 2 x 2 inch image on the IAA website.

* Submissions may be in black and white or color, but please keep in mind that an ideal logo can be reproduced either way. Bold colors work best for the printing process. If your logo wins the competition, the IAA will notify you before Alumni Weekend, and will request a logo in both formats. Feel free to submit both black and white and color versions by the deadline, but please indicate which should be used for voting.

* Submissions must not include any copyrighted images; designs that include and/or resemble the IMSA stair-step logo will not be accepted.

* The IAA Cabinet will review proposed logos for appropriateness and reserves final approval of submissions that will proceed to voting. If legal or other concerns do arise, we will attempt to work with you to address any issues. Submit as soon as possible to ensure your logo can be included in the competition!

* The IAA Cabinet reserves the right to postpone or end the contest if they deem the number of appropriate entries to be insufficient.

* Alumni must be advised that entry into this contest constitutes (1) a waiver of all copyrights alumni have in their entries and (2) permission to republish entries without compensations beyond complimentary samples mentioned above. The winning logo will become the property of the IAA in perpetuity.

* The results of the competition are final and failure to comply with all contest guidelines will result in disqualification.
